Review of Soul Bite

I thought death was the worst fate in the world.
But nothing's colder than a vampire's bite.

Immortality isn't all it's cracked up to be. I wouldn't know–yet. It all started with the rather unpleasant murder of an FBI agent–the latest in a string of serial murders. A bad enough way to kick off any day. Until Aldric bit me, which means I have a way, way bigger problem. Because I only have three days to reverse the curse before I'm the vampire's loyal indentured servant forever.

Too bad no one's coming to help. The FBI is reeling from the killings. My allies have been scattered to the wind. And a certain rain goddess is causing me plenty of trouble, even in exile. Which means I probably won't even survive long enough to experience eternity's cold embrace...

This is the third book in the Eden Hunter trilogy. This series was originally released as Sunshine and Scythes. I'll admit I'm kinda sad that the author didn't leave it under that name. It's snarky, just like Eden Hunter.

While I have read D.N. Erikson's Ruby Calloway books, this is my first foray into the world of Eden Hunter. Coming into a series late in the game is always a crapshoot. Hopefully, the author writes in such a way that you don't need to read the previous books, but you just never know. Luckily, that was the case with Soul Bite. Reading Soul Storm and Soul Fire certainly would have helped, but it wasn't necessary. You pick up the story along the way.

Eden is a Reaper. Trash talking and rebellious, she's working as a consultant for the FBI when one of their own gets knocked off. Now it's up to Eden to get to the bottom of it, except as it turns out, the FBI has a demon problem on their hands. Not to mention, she's bitten by a millennium old vampire in order to get her complete obedience. She doesn't know how she'll get out of it, only that she has just three days to do so. This is book has it all: demons, vampires, goddesses, immortal treasure hunters, talking cats. With such a mixed bag of characters, how could it not be a good time?

If you enjoy Lilith Saintcrow, I think you'll like this series. And it's a great deal on Amazon!
