Today's guest on Cats Luv Coffee is Kerry E.B. Black! Kerry is a horror, supernatural thriller, and fantasy author. Her latest work is a short story anthology of one of my favorite things—reimagined fairy tales.

Read on for the full interview!

What's your latest release?

Fairy Herds and Mythscapes

Can you start out by telling us a little about your latest work?

This collection of short stories and flash fiction explores and redesigns classic fairy tales and myths.

Where did you get the inspiration to write this story?

It is a love note to the early fairy tales.

What was more important to you when you were writing: character development or plot?

It depends on the story, of course.

What books or authors influenced your own writing?

My short stories are influenced by Jackson, Bradbury, King, and Gaiman. And of course Grimm and Aesop.

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?

I do read reviews, because if someone took the time to not only read my book but also review it, I would like to hear the thoughts.

What led you to start writing?

Authors are my rock stars, and I'm trying to sneak backstage to crash their party.

What attracted you to the genre(s) you write in?

Probably Hammer Films and Edgar A. Poe.

What's one of your favorite words?

Glisten. It almost speaks.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

Hang in there.

Which animal would you say is your spirit animal while writing?

I think my three cats claim that honor. I named them Poe, Hemingway, and P.D. James.

Would you rather live in a haunted mansion or a cottage surrounded by fairytale creatures?

Whichever didn't flood would suit me just fine.

Are you on social media and can your readers interact with you? What are your links?

I welcome such interactions. I have a webpage: www.Kerryebblack.com
I am on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, Goodreads, BookBub, and Amazon, too. There are links from my webpage.

Do you have a WIP? If so, can you tell us anything about it?

I am always writing something new. I've another short story collection slated for publication around the holidays. I hope you'll check it out!

Kerry E.B. Black writes from a buttercream cottage which is melting into a swamp outside the city of steel and zombies.

Kerry, thank you so much for taking the time to be interviewed!
